National Talent Search Examination is a nation-wide scholarship program for the students studying in Class 10th of any recognized school. It encourages talented students to pursue their dreams and reach their true potential by providing them financial assistance for the rest of their careers. It is a two-stage selection process: Stage I is regulated and conducted by each state and Stage II is conducted by NCERT.

NTSE Important Dates

State-level examination is conducted by the State Board. It is conducted on the first Sunday of November every year in each state except Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar, Meghalaya, and Mizoram; where it’s conducted on first Saturday of November.  The national level examination is conducted on the second Sunday of May in every State/Union territory.  For information regarding NTSE important dates visit – Important dates for NTSE 2019-2020.

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of NTSE stays almost similar in both stages. Stage I and Stage II papers are divided into two sections: MAT and SAT.

SAT section consists of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics. All the questions are based on Class IX and Class X level only. For Mental ability test, questions would be asked from topics such as number series, calendar & clock, dice test, direction test, Venn diagram, blood relations, missing patterns, etc. Both the paper would consist of 100 multiple-choice questions. Every question would come with 4 alternatives. Students are supposed to choose the correct option and fill it in the OMR sheet provided by the exam centre.

NTSE Syllabus

Each state has the autonomy to form its own norms. Syllabus of each state differs for NTSE Stage 1. It’s very difficult to find study material and practice material for the preparation of State level exam. NTSE guru has compiled exclusive course and study material for the students of every state. Candidates must register and download the application form from the official website of either State Board or NCERT. Candidates can also get their application forms from Liaison officer’s office or their respective schools. Each state might charge a different fee for the examination. Remit the fee and application form to the Liaison officer before the due date.
