Directorate of Teacher Education and SCERT Odisha has released the official notification for State-level national talent search examination 2019-2020 (NTSE, Stage 1). Applications are being accepted to select 259 candidates for National Talent Search Examination, 2020.
The examination will be conducted in two stages:
Stage I: State level examination will be conducted on 03.11.19 (Sunday). It is conducted to select candidates for National level examination.
Stage II: National Level examination will be conducted by NCERT for the students selected through Stage I. The exam will be conducted on 10.05.19 (Sunday).
Students are not required to pay any examination fee.
Students studying in class X during 2019-20 in any recognized schools of Odisha are eligible to appear for NTSE provided they have secured at least 60 % marks in class IX for General, OBC, and EWS and 55 % for reserved categories (SC, ST, and PH ). There shall be no domicile restrictions.
Students registered under open distance learning will also be eligible to appear for the Stage I examination, conducted by State/UT in which the school is located. A student must be below the age of 18 years, he/she must not be employed, and student should be appearing in Class X for the first time.
Stage level examination consists of two papers: Mental ability test (MAT) and Scholastic ability test (SAT).
Mental Ability Test: It consists of 100 multiple choice questions on reasoning and critical thinking and to be answered in 120 minutes. The questions may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures, etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test: It consists of 100 multiple choice questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Civics, and Economics to be answered in 120 minutes.
There is no prescribed syllabus for State-level NTS examination. However, questions shall be asked based on Class IX and X syllabi.
To appear in NTSE Stage II, the student must acquire 40% in each paper. For the reserved category, the qualifying mark is 32% in each paper. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks secured in MAT and SAT.
How to Apply
The candidate can fill up the Online Application Form by logging www.scertodisha.nic.in. After filling up the Application form online, he/she is required to take the printout of the form and submit it in the concerned School. The head/principal of the school shall forward it to the concerned District Education Officer. The District Education Officer will allot the examination centre after and verifying all the documents and put the auto-generated eleven digit roll number and validate the Online Application Form. The Admit Card can be downloaded by the student from SCERT for appearing in the examination.
